Fluidcast
Encoding

The “Fluidcast Encoder” is available in two different configurations.
1. Is the single rate transcoder which can batch process video and audio files from a digital master. Some of the most popular formats that the encoder can transcode from include; WMV, AVI, DIVX, MPG, MP3 (audio), MOV, MP4. Files are transcoded into any format the administrator wants to provide to the end user. For flash streaming the “Fluidcast Encoder” transcodes the videos into MP4 format. Administrators can select from different “encoding profiles.” Each profile sets a different video or audio bitrate, codec and screen resolution. Video or audio files are batch transcoded once they can uploaded via the FTP or administrative area. The Fluidcast encoder will process each video at one time and make it available for the administrator to manage it for deployment to the end user.
2. The multi rate transcoder firstly batch processes the video or audio file in the same way the single rate transcoder does. It then completes a second step where it “re-containerizes” each bitrate into small files so that the approriate streaming software can adapt the rate of the video in a “smooth” fashion (without affecting the user’s experience) in real time depending on the user’s current download bitrate (from their internet connection.)
Each transcoding method can run on the same server as that hosted by the Fluidcst Platform. Or in the case of the hosted version of Fluidcast, is transcoded (one at a time) on our servers and delivered ready for deployment.
